PAD EYE INSPECTION



INTRODUCTION
Pad-eye is a flat metal plate with a projecting loop or ring, made all in one piece. This is    
often found on Cargo Carrying Units (CCU). Soft Eye Wire Rope Sling are usually attached to a Shackle bolted to the pad-eye. 

DURATION/FREQUENCY: Duration or frequency of subsequent Inspection on a pad-eye will be relative to areas (Offshore, Onshore) and on client demand which must not exceed the duration stipulated by the standard

INSPECTION FREQUENCY: EVERY (6) MONTHS
OFFSHORE ENVIRONMENT: EVERY (6) MONTHS
ONSHORE ENVIRONMENT: EVERY (12) MONTHS
Inspection of the PAD EYES shall be carried out as understated,
1.1.            All statutory safety requirements as to safety on working on cranes,  
hoists ladders, scaffolding and other equipment must be observed.

1.2.           Prior to examination of PAD EYES Inspector shall ensure
          
                      
a)      Identification Number and SWL are present and clearly marked.
b)    Record of maintenance and any Major repairs / Alteration carried out after last Inspection, is available for review.
c)    Safe Working Load and any conditions or restrictions pertaining to same are correct and clearly marked.
d)    Manufacturer’s test certificate / Previous certificate of exam. Is available for review.

       …We apply thorough check after the pad eyes have been inspected, and MPI carried out on welded joints.

           Reporting & Certification 
   
       After satisfactory completion of Test & examination, the Pad Eye shall be colour coded and Certificate of Test & Examination issued. However, a Defect Report will be issued for Pad Eye failing the acceptance criteria for Test & Examination.
